15-year-old Evanzhelika Batarshina is representing Mauritius with the song “I want to dance” at the 2023 “Our Generation” competition.
Evanzhelika has been a singer since childhood but she has been formally studying for the last three years. Eva has participated in and won numerous competitions, including “The Voice. Kids” (Russia), “Young Stars” (Africa), “Bakytty Bala” (Kazakhstan), “Asterix” (Northern Macedonia), etc. Evanzhelika believes that music gives her the feeling of flight. Singing makes her calm and happy. Her favorite performers include Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Lana del Rey, Coldplay, and Arctic Monkeys.
Eva shoots, produces, and edits all of her videos. For the song “Underwater,” she swam with a 15-meter whale, jumped from a 10-meter-high waterfall, and learned to kitesurf.
Eva is also passionate about sports. In 2021-2022, she won the African Jiu-Jitsu Junior Championship. She also loves horse riding: she won first place at the National Show Jumping Competition in 2023.
Evanzhelika is fluent in English, French, and Russian. She also speaks a bit of Creole and is learning to sing in Chinese.
